چکیده

Numerous studies have revealed the beneficial effects of regular exercise across a variety of mental health measures. Although a great deal of attention has been paid to the role of aerobic exercise, less is known about the role of resistance exercise (i.e., strength training) in mental health outcomes. Resistance exercise includes a broad group of procedures that evoke repeated muscle action against resistances above those encountered in daily life. A growing body of literature has identified anxiolytic effects of resistance exercise in human populations after both single-bout sessions and long-term training. This research has shown that resistance training at a low-to-moderate intensity (<70% 1 repetition maximum) produces the most reliable and robust decreases in anxiety. Importantly, anxiolytic effects have been observed across a diverse range of populations and dependent measures. These findings provide support for the use of resistance exercise in the clinical management of anxiety.

Effects of a single session of concurrent exercise on leptin levels and insulin resistance index in sedentary males

ABSTRACT Physical activity is known to influence and regulate leptin hormone secretion, which assists in the regulation of body weight and energy homeostasis. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of a single session of concurrent exercise on leptin levels and insulin resistance, until 24 h post-exercise. Ten male subjects (22.9±1.7 years) healthy volunteer perf...

Central monoaminergic systems are a site of convergence of signals conveying the experience of exercise to brain circuits involved in cognition and emotional behavior

Physical activity can enhance cognitive function and increase resistance against deleterious effects of stress on mental health. Enhanced cognitive function and stress resistance produced by exercise are conserved among vertebrates, suggesting that ubiquitous mechanisms may underlie beneficial effects of exercise. In the current review, we summarize the beneficial effects of exercise on cogniti...

Effects of caffeine consumption before resistance exercise on blood levels of testosterone and growth hormones in male athletes

Introduction: Caffeine has the athletic performance-enhancing effects, but its effect on concentrations of anabolic hormones is unclear. Therefore, this research examines the short–term effect of caffeine consumption on anabolic hormones of growth (GH) and testosterone (TS) after performing resistance exercise (RE). Materials and Methods: In this randomized double-blind, and placebo-controlled ...

Effects of Endurance and Circuit Resistance Trainings on Lipid Profile, Heart Rate, and Hematological Parameters in Obese Male Students

Studies have shown that different exercise ways are of the most important factors that affect cardiovascular risk factors and hematological parameters. This present paper aims to study the effects of two methods of endurance and resistance training on lipid profiles, heart rate, and hematological parameters in obese male students. 36 obese students were purposefully selected and randomly divi...

The effects of different rest interval durations between resistance exercise sets on gene expression of CGRP and IGF-1 of muscle in male wistar rats

Determining the best rest interval durations between resistance exercise sets for adaptation is very important. This study investigated the effect of different rest intervals duration between resistance exercise (RE) sets on the gene expression of CGRP and IGF-1. Forty two male Wistar rats were randomly divided in to 7 groups. The resistance exercise included one session of climbing on one mete...
